World events are often complex and intertwined, requiring increased preparedness, improved management and effective recovery to maintain and increase competitiveness. This is particularly important for the Travel & Tourism when it comes to crises given the impact and implications of geopolitical events & civil unrest, terrorism, epidemics and natural disasters on the sector.

With over 1.4 billion international arrivals in 2018, a figure which is forecasted to reach 1.8 billion by 2030; the Travel & Tourism sector has a vested interest in mitigating the impact of shocks and making a swift recovery when a crisis does happen. 

In this context, WTTC works to provide the Travel & Tourism sector with an understanding of the emerging, ongoing and escalating risks ahead and equip the public and private sectors with tools, protocols and solutions to support them in preparing and responding to crises. To do so, WTTC brings together leaders from the public and private sectors, DMOs, international organisations and associations as well as academia.
